Multi-factor authentication in Engage

Engage is updating its login. This update is designed to provide stronger security for your account while enabling multi-factor authentication (MFA), ensuring your data remains safe and secure. Here’s what will change:

  • Login using your email address instead of your username
  • A refreshed and user-friendly login form to support the updated process
  • MFA using an authenticator app for accessing Engage

How authentication works

The first time you log into your Engage environment using MFA, you will need to add your Engage environment to your preferred authenticator app.

If this is your first time setting up an authenticator, you may be asked if you want to allow the app to access your camera (iOS) or allow the app to take photos and record video (Android). Allow these permissions so that your phone can take an image of the QR code presented in the next step.

Here are the steps for the most common authenticator apps.

1 - Microsoft Authenticator (Google Play / App Store)

  1. Open Microsoft Authenticator on your mobile device
  2. Select "+" in the top menu bar
  3. On the Add Account page, select "Other Account"
  4. Scan the QR code that appears
  5. If you have an existing account with the same name as the new account, you can rename the new account to something else

If you have trouble scanning the QR code, select "Trouble Scanning" in the login form. Then use the code given to add the device manually following these steps:

  1. Select "+" in the Microsoft Authenticator app
  2. Select "Other account"
  3. Select "Or enter the code manually"
  4. Name the account anything you want
  5. Enter the code given on the login form into the app

2 - Google Authenticator (Google Play / App Store)

  1. Open Google Authenticator on your mobile device.
  2. Select "+" on the screen
  3. Select "Scan a QR code"
  4. Name the account whatever you want. If you already have an existing account with the same name as the new account, you can rename the new account

If you have trouble scanning the QR code, select "Trouble Scanning" in the login form. Then use the code given to add the device manually following these steps:

  1. Select "+" in Google Authenticator
  2. Select "Enter a configuration key"
  3. Name the account anything you want
  4. Enter the code that appears on the login form into the app

3 - Auth0 Guardian (Google Play / App Store)

  1. Open Auth0 Guardian on your mobile device
  2. Select "Add" on the screen
  3. Select "Scan a QR code" and name the account whatever you want
  4. If you already have an existing account with the same name as the new account, you can rename the new account

If you have trouble scanning the QR code, select "Trouble Scanning" in the login form. Then use the code given to add the device manually following these steps:

  1. Select "+" in the Auth0 Guardian app
  2. Select "Enter a configuration key"
  3. Name the account anything you want
  4. Enter the code given on the login form into the app

For all authenticators

For all the authenticator listed above, you have the option to choose "Remember this device for 30 days" so you don't have to enter the code every time you log in. If you choose this, be sure that it is compliant with your organization's security policies.
