Engage enables you to set up a Back in Stock automation to notify your visitors when a subscribed product is considered back in stock.
The main steps of a Back in Stock flow in Engage are:
- Stock level subscription
- Stock level update
- Back in Stock trigger
- Back in Stock email
Stock level subscription
To receive a Back in Stock notification a contact needs to have a stock level subscription registered in Engage. A subscription connects an Engage contact to a specific SKU. The subscription will be deleted when it has triggered a Back in Stock automation. Read more about the Back in stock API in the developer portal.
Stock level update
Engage should be notified every time the stock level of a SKU has changed, or when the SKU is considered back in stock. The former enables Engage to keep track of the entire inventory regardless of the stock level. A stock quantity threshold of what you consider back in stock can be configured in the automation trigger. How the stock levels updated are passed to Voyado is explained in the developer portal.

Back in Stock email
You can add an email to the automation. The event that triggered the automation could be utilized in an email sent out to the subscribers. To get started, order a back in stock email module from your Voyado contact.
The standard module will dynamically present the following for each SKU that is back in stock and therefore included in the trigger:
- Name
- Description
- Price
- Image
- Direct link
Besides the attributes added in the standard module, you can use the following personalization fields within an email module or in the email editor:
- [[backInStock.ContactId]]
- [[backInStock.Locale]]
- [[backInStock.Sku]]
- [[backInStock.Quantity]]
- [[backInStock.ExternalId]]
- [[backInStock.Timestamp]]
- [[backInStock.SubscriptionId]]
- [[backInStock.SubscribedOn]]
- [[backInStock.ProductData.Id]]
- [[backInStock.ProductData.ItemGroupId]]
- [[backInStock.ProductData.Description]]
- [[backInStock.ProductData.Link]]
- [[backInStock.ProductData.ImageUrl]]
- [[backInStock.ProductData.Price]]
- [[backInStock.ProductData.SalePrice]]
- [[backInStock.ProductData.Brand]]
- [[backInStock.ProductData.MainCategory]]
- [[backInStock.ProductData.Size]]
- [[backInStock.ProductData.GoogleProductCategoryId]]
- [[backInStock.ProductData.Spare1]]
- [[backInStock.ProductData.Spare2]]
- [[backInStock.ProductData.Spare3]]
- [[backInStock.ProductData.Spare4]]
- [[backInStock.ProductData.Spare5]]
Contact tab
With "Back in stock" enabled you will find a "Back in stock" tab on the contact card. The tab shows active subscriptions for each contact including:
- SKU
- Local
- external ID (if applicable)
- When created
The tab only shows a subscription that hasn't been processed, meaning that the subscription hasn't triggered automation.
Logging
The integration log will show which SKU has passed the predefined conditions and the number of subscriptions that have been sent to the automation trigger.
Segmentation based on back in stock subscription
You can use back in stock subscriptions as a signal when creating segments and target audiences. Both active and deleted (carried out notifications) subscriptions can be used. Read more about the segmentation tool here.
It’s possible to restrict the trigger based on:
- Which SKU that is subscribed to
- Which locale the subscription was tied to
- Which External ID that the subscription was tied to, if any since the attribute is optional
- When the subscription was created
